"US and Iran Announce Temporary Ceasefire"

U.S. President Donald And Pakistani leadership

ISLAMABAD - In a historic breakthrough for regional stability, Pakistan’s intensive mediation efforts have successfully led to a temporary ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Acting as a pivotal diplomatic bridge, Islamabad facilitated high-level communication between Washington and Tehran, resulting in an official halt to hostilities. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that the Supreme National Security Council of Iran has formally ratified the proposed truce.

This de-escalation is being hailed globally as a major victory for Pakistan’s foreign policy. Following the ceasefire agreement, formal negotiations between the two nations are scheduled to commence in Islamabad on April 10, with the process expected to last up to 15 days.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the suspension of potential military action against Iran, stating the decision followed detailed consultations with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. In a gesture of goodwill, the Pakistani leadership had formally requested President Trump to extend the strike deadline by two weeks. Simultaneously, PM Sharif urged Tehran to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz for a fortnightly period to allow a fair window for the diplomatic process to succeed.

Meanwhile, Tehran has officially confirmed the truce, framing it as a "Great Victory." Iranian authorities claim Washington was compelled to accept a 10-point proposal, which reportedly includes an end to aggression, the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, compensation for damages, and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region. Despite the ceasefire, Iranian security agencies warned that their forces remain on high alert, with "hands on the trigger," ready to respond to any provocation.

International observers believe this temporary ceasefire will stabilize global energy markets and oil supply lines, while also opening doors for progress on prisoner exchanges and humanitarian issues. By de-escalating one of the world's most volatile conflicts, Pakistan has once again proven its role as a key and responsible stakeholder in global peace and regional stability.
