LAHORE - In a major move to provide relief amid record-breaking inflation, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a historic relief package.
Under this initiative, all public transport services in Punjab—including the Orange Line Train, Metro Bus, Speedo, and Green Electro Bus—will now be free of charge for citizens.
The relief package also extends to the agricultural and transport sectors. Farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs. 100 per liter on diesel for irrigation, while registered motorcyclists are entitled to a Rs. 100 per liter subsidy on up to 20 liters of petrol.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these extraordinary measures are necessary to shield the public from the global economic crisis caused by regional conflicts.
This announcement comes shortly after the federal government hiked petrol prices to Rs. 458.41 and diesel to Rs. 520.35 per liter.
