ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a televised address to the nation, has announced a massive reduction in petroleum prices, slashing Diesel by Rs135 and Petrol by Rs12 per litre.
The Prime Minister stated that it is the government's responsibility to pass on the benefits of declining global oil prices to the public. Following this move, the price of Diesel will drop from Rs520 to Rs385 per litre.

The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) has issued the notification, and the new rates are effective immediately for a period of one week.
To protect the lower-income segment, the Prime Minister announced that subsidies will remain intact for motorcycles, public transport, and freight vehicles. He highlighted that the government has already spent Rs129 billion on public relief.
Furthermore, he urged the nation to adopt austerity measures and conserve fuel in light of the current regional situation.
